Weightage: what the paper actually did

Redox Reactions carried 2 questions in the NEET 2026 paper. One paper is a data point, not a destiny: NTA moves weight between chapters every cycle, which is why the weightage tables deserve care. The stable facts are the paper's shape: 180 questions, 720 marks, +4 right, −1 wrong.

Question 1 · NEET 2026

In an acidic medium, 10 mL of 0.25 M oxalic acid is titrated with KMnO4\mathrm{KMnO}_{4} solution. If the volume of KMnO4\mathrm{KMnO}_{4} solution required to reach end point is 10 mL, the strength of the KMnO4\mathrm{KMnO}_{4} solution is
  1. A.0.10 M
  2. B.0.20 M
  3. C.0.25 M
  4. D.0.15 M
Answer and explanation

Answer: A

Oxalate is oxidised by two electrons (C2O42−→2CO2+2e−\mathrm{C}_{2}\mathrm{O}_{4}^{2-} \rightarrow 2\mathrm{CO}_{2} + 2\mathrm{e}^{-}) so its n-factor is 2, while permanganate in ACIDIC medium is reduced by five electrons (MnO4−→Mn2+\mathrm{MnO}_{4}^{-} \rightarrow \mathrm{Mn}^{2+}) so its n-factor is 5. Equating equivalents, (0.25×2)(10)=(M×5)(10)(0.25 \times 2)(10) = (M \times 5)(10), giving M=0.10 MM = 0.10\ \text{M}. NCERT Class 11, Redox Reactions (redox titrations).

Question 2 · NEET 2026

The correct decreasing order of oxidation state of the underlined atom in each molecule is
  1. A.P‾4O10>S‾O3>H2O‾\underline{\mathrm{P}}4\mathrm{O}_{10} > \underline{\mathrm{S}}\mathrm{O}_{3} > \mathrm{H}_{2}\underline{\mathrm{O}}
  2. B.N‾2O5>Al‾2O3>H2S‾\underline{\mathrm{N}}2\mathrm{O}_{5} > \underline{\mathrm{Al}}2\mathrm{O}_{3} > \mathrm{H}_{2}\underline{\mathrm{S}}
  3. C.Pb‾O2>N‾2O3>S‾O3\underline{\mathrm{Pb}}\mathrm{O}_{2} > \underline{\mathrm{N}}2\mathrm{O}_{3} > \underline{\mathrm{S}}\mathrm{O}_{3}
  4. D.P‾4O6>Cl‾2O7>Al‾H3\underline{\mathrm{P}}4\mathrm{O}_{6} > \underline{\mathrm{Cl}}2\mathrm{O}_{7} > \underline{\mathrm{Al}}\mathrm{H}_{3}
Answer and explanation

Answer: B

Assigning oxidation numbers in option B: nitrogen in N2O5\mathrm{N}_{2}\mathrm{O}_{5} is +5, aluminium in Al2O3\mathrm{Al}_{2}\mathrm{O}_{3} is +3, and sulphur in H2S\mathrm{H}_{2}\mathrm{S} is -2 (hydrogen is +1 because sulphur is the more electronegative partner). The sequence +5 > +3 > -2 is genuinely decreasing, so B is correct. NCERT Class 11, Redox Reactions (oxidation number rules).

How to practise Redox Reactions

Chapter by chapter, against real past-paper questions, on a screen: NEET is computer based from 2027. Read the chapter once, then attempt its PYQs until your accuracy stops climbing, and let the wrong answers tell you which lines to reread. If the chapter keeps refusing to stick, that has its own guide. There is also a free NEET mini mock with answers.

Is Redox Reactions important for NEET 2027?

It is part of the Chemistry syllabus the paper draws from, and NEET 2027 is computer based, so practise it on a screen. Your own accuracy in the chapter matters more than any weightage table: a heavy chapter you already score well on needs less time than a light one you keep missing.
