Answer: A

Somatic hybridisation starts by isolating single cells from two different plant varieties (D), digesting their cell walls with enzymes (A) to release naked protoplasts (B), fusing the protoplasts to form a hybrid protoplast (C), and finally growing it to regenerate a new plant (E). Hence the correct sequence is D, A, B, C, E.
