Answer: D

Both nitrogen and oxygen are period-2 elements lacking accessible d-orbitals, so nitrogen cannot form a dπ\pi-pπ\pi bond with oxygen, making statement D incorrect. Nitrogen does form pπ\pi-pπ\pi multiple bonds (as in N2), the heavier elements P and As have vacant d-orbitals allowing dπ\pi-dπ\pi overlap with transition metals, and P, As, Sb show catenation, so those statements are correct. Why the other options are wrong: - (A) Correct statement: N forms pπ\pi-pπ\pi bonds with itself. - (B) Correct statement: P and As use vacant d-orbitals for dπ\pi-dπ\pi bonding. - (C) Correct statement: P, As, Sb show catenation.
